When the pandemic shut the world down, I worked in psychiatry and tackled the mental health crisis head-on as a mental health worker.
Afterwards, I worked at a nonprofit called Fresh Truck, where I helped alleviate food insecurity for low-income families in the Boston area. My time working with underserved audiences left a lasting impression on me. I wondered, how could I create more scalable impact with my work?
Building sustainable solutions is an unrelenting motivator in my “Why?” for design. Whether it's assembling IKEA furniture or shouting “Hey Siri!”, I believe that design is the bridge between innovation and making life easier.
Since a child, I had known that strong design was a universal language and carried the unique ability to captivate while serving. Design has the potential to create large-scale people impact, and marries my past with my love for detail and thoughtfully-crafted products. From replaying Nike's "Winner Stays On" campaign in my head to implicitly opting for one app over the other, design has been a driving force behind what makes me click.
Every designer needs a good playlist. I find myself listening to all kinds of music, whether it's Motown, Hip-Hop, Alternative R&B or Outkast (whichever genre you consider them).
These are some of the albums I'm currently enjoying.
